- If you drink more than 3 to 4 cups daily of regular coffee or strong brew tea, cut back
- Drink less coffee and tea if you start to suffer from the shakes, irritability and uptight feeling, headaches, a racing heartbeat, or have trouble sleeping
- Avoid both regular and decaffeinated coffee if you suffer from stomach ulcers, hiatus hernia or heartburn
- Avoid coffee and tea for at least an hour after eating. They can interfere with iron absorption
- For some extra calcium, combine your coffee with milk in a cafe au lait or caffe latte
